Military Appreciation and Giving Back to Veterans on Veterans Day

The following are organizations who are making a special effort to recognize Veterans Day by donating a portion of their sales to veteran causes or featuring special programs that give back to veterans and their families during the month of November 2019. Companies that are giving back to the military include:

Abuelo’s -- Abuelo’s is teaming up with Honor Flight Network, an organization which transports America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to honoring those who have served and scarified for our country. For every Chile con Queso appetizer sold at Abuelo’s from Thursday, Nov. 7 through Monday, Nov. 11, Abuelo’s will donate $1 to Honor Flight.

Amazon -- Beginning November 6, 2016, customers can show their support for veteran, active duty, and military spouse owned small businesses selling in Amazon’s stores by visiting the new Military Family Small Business page on Amazon Storefronts.

Ancestry.com -- In honor of Veterans Day, Ancestry.com is allowing everyone to search their collection of US military records for free from November 8th (at 5 pm Mountain Time) and ends November 17th (at 9:59 pm Mountain Time). Ancestry features more than 260 million records including draft cards, enlistment records going back hundreds of years. More information is available at ancestry.com.

Baker’s Square -- Through Veterans Day, November 11, Bakers Square locations will raise funds for The Folded Flag Foundation. Each guest who donates $5 on their dine-in check will receive a $5 voucher toward a future in-store purchase at the respective participating restaurant brand. The Folded Flag Foundation gives 100 percent of all public donations directly to the scholarship recipients.

Boston Bruins -- The Bruins honor local military members, veterans, and their families at Military Appreciation Night on Tuesday, November 12 at their game against the Florida Panthers. California Pizza Kitchen – Thursday, November 7th, California Pizza Kitchen will host a nationwide fundraiser in partnership with Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Twenty percent of participating purchases nationwide will be donated to DAV that day.

Cracker Barrel -- Cracker Barrel guests can give back with a purchase of one of the iconic wooden rocking chairs that line the front porch of each store. Ten percent of the retail sales price from eligible online and in-store purchases of wooden rocking chairs at Cracker Barrel will be donated to Operation Homefront, a national military nonprofit with a mission to build strong, stable and secure military families.

Dunkin’ – Dunkin’ is partnering with A Million Thanks, a nonprofit organization that supports active, reserve and veteran military by sending letters of thanks and encouragement directly to service members. On Veterans Day, people can add their own custom message to digital cards featuring words of thanks and encouragement to active duty military on Dunkin's Instagram page. Favorite messages will be selected by Dunkin' and printed and mailed to active military members through A Million Thanks. In celebration of the new partnership Dunkin' is donating $10,000 to A Million Thanks for ongoing support of their mission.

Feltman’s of Coney Island -- Feltman’s of Coney Island has committed to donating 100% of their Veterans Day weekend website sales profits towards helping veterans suffering from PTSD and related mental health issues. Starting on Saturday, November 9 through Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, each purchase of Feltman’s of Coney Island hot dog packs, Deli Style Mustard, and merchandise made via FeltmansOfConeyIsland.com will help to provide free mental health care for veterans in need.

KIND -- Leading up to Veterans Day, KIND will introduce its new limited-edition KIND® HEROES bar with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Hope for the Warriors’ Warrior’s Wish® Program (HOPE), supporting its mission to fulfill the life-changing wishes of severely-injured service members. Upon purchase, customers will also have the opportunity to send a thank you note directly to an American veteran within the HOPE community. The HEROES bar is available in KIND’s best-selling flavor, Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt, and will be sold exclusively on www.kindsnacks.com, with pre-order availability the week of 10/28.

Logan’s Roadhouse -- Beginning Veterans Day, November 11, 2019 and continuing through the end of the year, customers can round up their check and all of the proceeds made will benefit Folds of Honor and its mission to provide educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members.

Outback Steakhouse -- Customers can add $1 on to their check, donate a minimum of $5 towards a meal for a military family, or order a Homefront Hero or Foster’s Lager Big Bloke and $1 of the proceeds for each will be donated to Operation Homefront. More information is available on the Outback website.

O’Charley’s -- Through Veterans Day, November 11, O’Charley’s Restaurant & Bar locations will raise funds for The Folded Flag Foundation. Each guest who donates $5 on their dine-in check will receive a $5 voucher toward a future in-store purchase at the respective participating restaurant brand. The Folded Flag Foundation gives 100 percent of all public donations directly to the scholarship recipients.

Pilot Flying J -- Pilot Flying J, the largest operator of travel centers in North America, is donating $100,000 to the Call of Duty Endowment Fund to help veterans transition to successful careers after the military. 

Progressive Insurance -- More than 100 veterans and their families will receive keys to newly refurbished vehicles as part of Progressive's seventh annual Keys to Progress® event. The vehicle giveaways will occur on November 7, 2019 at more than 60 locations across the country, including Progressive offices and authorized vehicle repair facilities.

Regal -- To show its appreciation for the military this Veterans Day, Regal will donate $1 of each large popcorn sale on Monday, Nov. 11, to the Gary Sinise Foundation, a nonprofit that serves and honors our nation's defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.

Shane’s Rib Shack -- Shane’s locations around the country will donate and serve catered meals for local veteran organizations throughout the month of November to serve those veterans that have difficulty making it into the restaurant. Customers can also round up their check to the next dollar which will be donated to Forces United. 

Sport Clips -- Getting a haircut now through Veterans Day will support service member and veteran scholarships as a part of Sport Clips Haircuts annual “Help A Hero” campaign. Many locations are also offering free haircuts to service members and veterans with valid military identification - check here for participating stores and store hours. Anyone can support the cause by making a donation when checking out at a Sport Clips location. On Veterans Day, November 11, the company donates an additional dollar for every hair care service to the scholarship program.

Starbucks -- Starbucks is supporting and honoring veterans and the military community on Veterans Day with $0.25 of every brewed coffee beverage purchase will going to military non-profits Team Red, White and Blue and Team Rubicon.

Suave -- Suave is supporting Fisher House and the foundation’s Hero Miles in the process. Consumers can retweet a Tweet from Suave  to help Fisher House earn airline miles for their Hero Miles program, which allows individuals to donate unused air miles to families supporting their loved one undergoing medical treatments. For every retweet received on this kick-off post, Suave will donate 100 airline miles to the Hero Miles program, with a goal of donating 1 million miles to military families.

Sword & Plough and Vera Bradley -- Vera Bradley and Sword & Plough, have partnered to create a limited-edition mini collection to commemorate Veterans Day consisting of a backpack and zippered pouch. A limited quantity of both items will be available for purchase exclusively on verabradley.com and swordandplough.com beginning November 11th.  Sword & Plough donates 10 percent of their profits to veteran organizations. In conjunction with the collaboration, Vera Bradley has pledged a $10,000 donation to The Mission Continues Women Veterans Leadership Summit.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and Cheeriodicals -- Veterans receiving care at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers and state veteran homes in Orlando, Florida; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Portland, Maine; and Fayetteville, North Carolina will receive duffel bags filled with items intended to brighten their days.

Wyndham Honors -- Now through December 6, 2019 Wyndham Rewards members can help support military families by donating points to participating non-profit partners and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts will match all donations up to one million points.
