Military kids are the backbone of our families and often show us how resilient they are.

During the novel coronavirus pandemic, they're missing out on recitals, performances and other opportunities to share their talents.

In response, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation has stepped forward to host a Military Kids Have Talent virtual contest, a special opportunity just for milkids.

"During COVID-19, many military and veteran families have faced even greater uncertainty and stress than in their regular day-to-day lives. Kids can definitely feel this, and we want to give them a chance to have fun and be recognized for who they are," said Steve Schwab, CEO of the foundation.

Here Are the Details

First, submissions will be accepted through Friday, June 12. In late June, there will be a voting period. The winners will be announced, notified and receive their prizes in July.

Submissions may be submitted online, but videos must be no longer than two minutes. All sorts of talents are accepted and encouraged from any child or dependent (18 or younger) of a service member, veteran or survivor. Ideas include singing, dancing, crafting, juggling, cooking, joking or anything else they can think of!

Both group and individual performances will be accepted; this may be a great time for siblings to perform together. And the Dole Foundation is encouraging blooper submissions too, so don't edit too much.

Encourage your children to express themselves and have fun in the face of the pandemic. This virtual talent contest could be a great distraction for an afternoon or two.
