Watch a Marine Go Off the Books to Save His Wife in 'Redemption Day'

We haven't seen enough of Gary Dourdan since his character got killed off on "CSI" back in 2008. Warrick Brown is still dead, but Dourdan is back with a starring role as Marine Corps Capt. Brad Paxton in the new movie thriller "Redemption Day."

We've got a clip of Dourdan kicking ass. "Redemption Day" will open in theaters on Friday, Jan. 8, and will be available on Digital and On Demand on Tuesday, Jan. 12, for everyone living in cities where the theaters are still closed.

Dourdan is joined by a stellar cast that includes Andy Garcia ("The Godfather Part III," "Oceans 11"), Ernie Hudson ("Ghostbusters"), Robert Knepper ("Prison Break") and Martin Donovan ("Tenet," "Big Little Lies"). Paxton's missing wife Kate is played by Serinda Swan, star of the Canadian crime show "Coroner" that recently aired on the CW here in the States.

Paxton encourages his wife to go on an archaeological expedition to Morocco, but her team gets too close to the border with Algeria and she's taken hostage by terrorists. Anyone who's seen these kinds of movies will guess that the U.S. government isn't going to want to get involved with a rescue.

That leaves our Marine with his only option: Put together his own team, go off the books and kick some ass.

"Redemption Day" was produced, written and directed by Hicham Hajji and filmed in Morocco. Hajji is the first native Morroccan/Arab to make a Hollywood movie. When most Hollywood movies go on location, directors depend on location scouts to guide them through an unfamiliar country. It'll be interesting to see an action movie through a local's eyes.

Will our Marine find redemption? Will he learn to let go of some of the guilt and trauma that haunts him while attempting a rescue that has no moral gray area for him? Will Kate Paxton be saved? We'll all have to see "Redemption Day" to find out.
