Minecraft players can check out some of the new features being added to the game in the upcoming Mounts of Mayhem game drop right now. The latest Minecraft Java Snapshot has added new creatures, gear, a weapon, and many adjustments to existing mechanics.

Minecraft snapshots are used as a method of testing developmental versions of the game in advance of official updates. Mounts of Mayhem was revealed at the end of September, as the fourth game drop of 2025. While many players are still enjoying the recently-added drop of The Copper Age, those who are more interested in what's to come may want to check out the latest snapshot.
Minecraft's new Java snapshot, 25w41a, has been introduced, and with it, players can now check out a number of new features. Some of the most exciting among these are the addition of Nautilus to Minecraft, a tameable mob that players can use to ride through the water. The Nautilus spawns in all ocean biomes, is neutral, and has a Dash attack that it can use of its own volition or by the player's command if tamed. Nautilus take suffocation damage outside of the water, so players should bear that in mind, but they can also give the player a Breath of the Nautilus effect that allows them to breathe underwater while mounted. Zombie Nautilus, on the other hand, are ridden by Trident-wielding Drowned, but are only hostile when ridden by a hostile mob. Both standard and Zombie Nautilus can wear armor, which has Copper, Gold, Iron, Diamond, and Netherite variations.

Beyond the new mounts, a Spear has been introduced into Minecraft, with different stats depending on which material it's made out of. The Spear has a longer range than most tools and weapons, but if a player is too close to their target, it will deal no damage. The spear includes Jab and Charge attacks, and outside of crafting it, players can potentially find them on Zombies, Husks, and Piglins. The spears also have a new Lunge enchantment that's unique to them, which propel the player horizontally in the direction they're looking in.

Zombie Horses are now also available, spawning naturally, and are non-hostile unless ridden by a hostile mob, like the Zombie Nautilus. Zombie Horses burn in the sunlight like other undead, but players can protect them from taking said damage with Horse Armor. They can otherwise be tamed and ridden just like a standard Horse in Minecraft.
Players are advised to share any input they may have or any bugs they experience while playing the Snapshot so the dev team can work on ironing out any issues before the official launch.
