    In January 1945, Master Sergeant Nicholas Oresko single-handedly destroyed two enemy positions that had pinned down his unit near Tettington, Germany, clearing the way for his company to go back on the offensive. For his actions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on October 12, 1945.
