U.S. Army Proud with Tradition: Music Video Tribute

Share

HAVE YOU HEARD THIS BEFORE? It is a song about a U.S. Army soldier getting ready for the first Gulf War in 1991 written just a few months before the war at a time when the press said all the equipment would fail and doubted the U.S. could win again. This song uses the music chorus with permission from "The Ballad of the Green Berets" by SSgt Barry Sadler. This song played on Armed Forces Radio in Saudi and was sent to various Army Generals and received letters from 8 Generals including Chairman Collin Powell and General Norman Schwarzkopf in 1991. This year, 26 years after the first Gulf War, the writer met three Army soldiers who had heard this song used as a cadence count in boot camp! So here is the original. Have you heard it?
