Air Force Tactical Air Control Party
United States Air Force Tactical Air Control Party specialist (AFSC 1C4X1), commonly referred to as TACPs, are enlisted ground combatants who are imbedded with either conventional or unconventional United States Army or United States Marine Corps combat maneuver units. Air Force TACPs are the only United States military enlisted specialty who are uniquely selected and trained solely for their ability to bring the overwhelming firepower of close air support from fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft onto the battlefield. TACPs are often the most forward deployed ground force of the United States Air Force, and can also coordinate Army artillery and naval gunfire.
