ART International Training and Research, Inc. recently released a powerful video that shows what those with PTSD go through every day. ART stands for ‘Accelerated Resolution Therapy’ and aims to help those impacted by PTSD move beyond their trauma.

Spoiler alert: this one is a tear jerker. It features Brian Anderson, a retired Army Green Beret with 14 years of service, 33 months in combat and three Bronze Stars. Anderson poses as a coffee shop employee in the video which shows customers reacting to symptoms of PTSD.

According to ART International’s information, more than 24 million people nationwide have PTSD at any given time and, as the social experiment demonstrates, this issue can cause feelings of isolation, anger, depression, anxiety and confusion.

The video captures those feelings perfectly and don’t worry, it was produced in collaboration with mental health professionals who are experts in treating PTSD so no civilians were harmed in the making of it.

ART described the treatment as one that “uses a combination of techniques used in many other traditional psychotherapies. ART works directly to reprogram the way in which distressing memories and images are stored in the brain so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions.”

We won’t say anymore about what happens in the video, but you will want to watch it. But first grab a tissue and prepare for all the feels.
