The Marine Corps has approved a light-weight jacket that -- if your commander approves -- may be worn with the combat utility uniform.
The Combat Woodland Jacket is not being issued through systems command, but Marines are free to purchase on their own through Marine Corps clothing stores or other approved stores, according to a May 16 MarAdmin message. The authorized jacket will have a valid Marine Corps certification approval number.
The lightweight wind-, water/snow- and sand-resistant jacket has a rank tab on the left front and covers the Combat Utility Uniform blouse. It utilizes digital MARPAT fabrics for moisture management, odor reduction and breathability.
It is designed to provide multi-climate protection while having minimal impact on the combat load. It may be worn, with command approval, with the MCCCU during winter months, in accordance with a previous announcement.
For more information, Marines may call Harvey Walker, product manager, infantry combat equipment, at Marine Corps Systems Command, at 703-432-3617, or DSN 378-3617.
