Reservists, young adults and transitioning service members enrolled in Tricare or a transition health insurance plan will be paying more for their health insurance in 2023.

For almost everyone prices will be increasing, as opposed to last year when some saw decreases. The Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) and Tricare Retired Reserve (TRR) programs, as well as for the Tricare Young Adult and Continued Health Care Benefit programs, will see price changes beginning in January 2023, according to information just released in a policy update from the Defense Health Agency.

Reserve and National Guard members enrolled in the Tricare Reserve Select program will see their monthly premiums increase from $46.70 to $48.47 for single coverage and from $229.99 to $239.69 for family coverage.

Retired reservists and retired National Guard members who haven't turned 60 and are covered under the Tricare Retired Reserve program will see the monthly premiums for a single member increase from $502.32 to $549.35 each month, and those with family coverage will see an increase from $1,206.59 to $1,320.76.

College-age dependents enrolled in the Tricare Young Adult program will see an increase in their monthly premiums. Those amounts vary, depending on which option they are covered under. For example for those using Tricare Young Adult Select, the monthly payment will go from $265 to $291. And those using Tricare Young Adult Prime will see the monthly payment increase from $512 to $570.

Recently discharged members with temporary health insurance under the Continued Health Care Benefit Program (CHCBP) may see their premiums increase depending on their situation. Enrollees in that program pay premiums every three months, or quarterly, instead of monthly. For 2023 the premiums for a single person will remain at $1,654 per quarter,  while a family will see their quarterly premiums increase from $4,079 to $4,134.
