Naval Academy officials are investigating the death of a midshipman found unresponsive on Thursday night, officials announced Friday morning.
The midshipman, who was found in Bancroft Hall, where prospective Navy and Marine Corps officers attending the academy live, has not been identified pending family notification.
Foul play is not suspected in the death, according to a Naval Academy statement. Faculty, staff, coaches and midshipmen were notified of the midshipman's death on Friday.
"The Naval Academy is supporting the midshipman's family, friends, and loved ones during this time of grief," the statement adds. "Counseling services and support are available to midshipmen, faculty, staff and coaches through chains of command, our chaplains, and the Midshipmen Development Center."
It’s the second deadly incident involving a midshipman at the Naval Academy this month.
Midshipman 3rd Class Duke Carrillo, a 21-year-old sophomore from Texas, died Feb. 8 while taking the physical readiness test. He collapsed during the 1.5-mile run portion of the test.
Carrillo's death also remains under investigation.
