Drive Safely Work Week (DSWW) is coming soon (Oct. 6-10), but there's still plenty of time to prepare.
DSWW, sponsored by the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety, is an opportunity for executive leadership to adopt employee safe driving as part of their corporate culture. NETS provides tools and ideas to start, expand and sustain an effective road safety program.
Building a safe-driving culture doesn't happen overnight, but it's also never too late to get started. If you haven't added employee driving behavior to your company's safety culture, DSWW 2014 is your chance.
And you don't have to be an executive to get the ball rolling.
Nearly everyone drives -- whether for work, commuting to and from work or tending to daily errands outside of work. Regardless of the reason for driving, time spent behind the wheel is very likely the most dangerous part of an employee's day.
If you already have programs in place, DSWW is a great time to repeat, reinforce and maybe even rethink your safety communications as they relate to driving.
Whether through video messages, workplace meetings or letters to employees, consider using DSWW to emphasize the importance of road safety for all employees -- during the campaign week and throughout the year.
