The mileage reimbursement rates for official travel via Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) will increase for the second half of 2022.

For PCS travel the Mileage Allowance In Lieu of Transportation (MALT) rate becomes $0.22 per mile, up from $0.18 per mile.

For TDY/TAD travel the rates also change Jul. 1, 2022, the new rates are reflected below.

  • Auto: $0.22/mile
  • Auto - if no government vehicle available: $.0625/mile
  • Motorcycle: $0.605/mile
  • Airplane: $1.81/mile

The official mileage distance for calculating travel is determined by Defense Department.

For PCS travel, the number of travelers in the vehicle has no bearing on the amount of MALT paid.
