If you're looking for an alternative to Ryan Seacrest on ABC, Anderson Cooper on CNN or Steve Harvey on FOX, Pete Hegseth may be your man.
An Army veteran and Fox News host, Hegseth will partner with the Fox Business Network's Lisa Kennedy Montgomery to host a New Year's Eve broadcast live from Times Square in New York City beginning at 10pm Monday Dec. 31.
"I'm really excited, honored, and grateful to Fox News for the opportunity," Hegseth said. "For some reason, I've always enjoyed watching New Year's Eve television coverage -- pretty cool to be doing it, especially with a total pro like Kennedy!"
Hegseth served in the Army and is a combat veteran, having deployed to both Afghanistan and Iraq. He also served as a guard at Guantanamo Bay and earned two Bronze Stars as well as a Combat Infantryman Badge. Hegseth holds an undergraduate degree in politics from Princeton University and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
Older Gen Xers will remember Kennedy from her days on "120 Minutes" and "Alternative Nation" on MTV, but she's become a popular Fox Business personality in recent years, making her one of the few MTV VJs to find television success after music television.
At Fox News, Hegseth works as the weekend host for "Fox & Friends." He will soon launch the show "Ace of Spades: The Hunt for Saddam Hussein" on the FOX Nation streaming service. The show features interviews with soldiers, military leaders and intelligence officers involved in the hunt for and capture of the Iraqi dictator.
Fox News is promising that the show will include all the usual New Year's Eve shenanigans, including live musical performances from Bebe Rexha and Lovelytheband. They also plan to grant a Make-A-Wish request from a boy who has always wanted to to sing live during New Year's festivities in Times Square. Also on the scene will be psychics predicting the events of 2019.
Kennedy and Hegseth will also get their own readings on air.
