Tax time is fast approaching and you find yourself searching frantically for your paperwork. If you are having a hard time finding your military or retirement W-2 or 1099R don't worry, they are always available online on the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) website.
DFAS has created a website that lets both active duty members and retirees request and/or print out copies of their earnings statements for tax purposes.
Active Duty W-2 Earnings Statements
Active duty members can visit the DFAS tax statement website to request or view their tax statements. Those with limited internet access can call DFAS at 800-321-1080 M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET to have a paper copy of their active duty W-2 reissued to them.
Retirees and Survivors
Retirees and survivors must visit a different website to get their replacement tax documents. There is a form available here.
If that link is unavailable the retiree pay section of the DFAS website has detailed information on how to request replacement documents.
Also, for those with limited internet access can contact DFAS via telephone at 888-332-7411 for personal assistance.
