LAS VEGAS -- O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc. unveiled its new detachable magazine-fed 590M pump shotgun line at SHOT Show 2018 -- giving shooters up to 20 rounds at the ready.
Instead of the standard tubular magazine, the 590M feeds 12-gauge, 2¾-inch shells from a double-stack magazine that features hardened steel feed lips and an over-molded steel shell ramp for efficient feeding.
The magazine release button is located just forward of the trigger guard.

"It's brand new for this year," said Justin Tucker of Mossberg, describing how the 590M already has a "fantastic following."
"People love this gun. The slide is very, very smooth because you are not fighting the spring that you would normally fight" on a standard pump shotgun," he said.
The tube magazine on the 590 has been disabled and serves only as a guide for the pump.
"This is a standalone detachable magazine firearm," Tucker said.
The 590M comes standard with a 10-round magazine, but 5-, 15- and 20-round magazines are also available.
The standard model comes with an 18.5-inch barrel and retails for $719. Mossberg also offers the 590M equipped with a heat shield and tri-rail forearm for $802.
