FN Herstal will unveil the latest addition to its FN Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle family at Milipol Paris 2017– the FN SCAR SC subcompact carbine.

FN SCAR rifles have seen extensive use by US Special Operations Forces. The 5.56x45mm caliber FN SCAR SC builds on this heritage with an extremely compact design that’s ideal for homeland security operations, according to a recent FN Herstal press release about the upcoming Milipol show Nov. 21-24.

The new, compact version of the SCAR features a 7.5 inch barrel and has a cyclic rate of fire of 550-650 rounds per minute.

It measures 21.10 inches when the collapsible buttstock is fully retracted and 25.71 inches when fully extended. The SCAR SC weighs 6.94 pounds.

“Specifically adapted for mobility and flexibility,” the FN SCAR SC has semi-auto only or selective fire capabilities, non-reciprocating charging handle and a wide range of add-ons such as a red dot sight, tactical light, a variety of foregrips and a sound suppressor, according to the release.

“All of these add-ons have been tested and certified by FN Herstal as providing reliable, durable performance in even the toughest circumstances,” the release states.

In addition to the standard telescopic buttstock, optional buttstocks include fixed, foldable, adjustable to length and height, with either concave or convex butt plate and a foldable offset buttstock for aiming and shooting with anti-riot or bulletproof helmet visor.

Existing users of FN SCAR will already be familiar with how to operate this rifle, minimizing training time, FN officials maintain.
