9 New York Military Discounts

New York is home to such a wide variety of events, tours, attractions, dining, culture, shopping and entertainment that you’ll never run out of things to do and see.

If you're planning a trip to New York, make sure you include a stop at some of the following places that offer military discounts.

1. 9/11 Memorial Museum

The 9/11 Memorial Museum offers active-duty military, retired military and 9/11 family members free admission. The Museum displays artifacts associated with the events of 9/11, and admission tickets include entry to all exhibitions.

2. One World Observatory

One World Observatory tops One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. After a Sky Pod Elevator ride, you’ll see amazing views of New York City up to 45 miles in every direction. Show your military ID, and active-duty and retired service members get 50% off full-priced Standard Experience admission packages and 20% off for up to four guests.

3. Bronx Zoo

The Bronx Zoo has fun exhibits like the Congo Gorilla Forest, Himalayan Highlands, Tiger Mountain, and Madagascar!, featuring species of animals from around the globe. Active-duty military and veterans are eligible to receive a complementary Bronx Zoo Admission or Limited Admission ticket for themselves and 50% off tickets for up to three guests.

4. Carnegie Hall

The mission of Manhattan's Carnegie Hall is to present extraordinary music and musicians on their three stages. Veterans and active-duty members of the military save 30% on all Carnegie Hall presentations (excluding galas and Weill Music Institute events). Tickets are available with valid identification at the Box Office, and there's a limit of two tickets per person.

5. Museum of Modern Art

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), located in Midtown Manhattan, offers free admission to active-duty military and military families (with dependent cards).

6. Empire State Building Observatory

At the Empire State Building in Midtown Manhattan, active-duty military can get a discount to the observatory. The military discount can be purchased online or at the ticket booth with a valid ID.

7. Intrepid Museum

The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum lets you explore history aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid, a National Historic Landmark. The Intrepid Museum offers active-duty military and veterans free general admission.

8. New York Aquarium

The New York Aquarium, which is just off the Coney Island boardwalk in Brooklyn, includes 14 acres of exhibits and attractions like their Conservation Hall and Sea Cliffs. The aquarium offers active-duty military and veterans a complementary Admission ticket for themselves and 50% off tickets for up to three guests. Advance ticket reservations are required. 

9. New York MTA

Trying to figure out how to get around the city? The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) offers active-duty military personnel off-peak fare on LIRR and Metro-North with a valid ID.
