McLean, Va  – Leaders from met with staff members and elected officials on Capitol Hill this week to discuss issues around veteran employment and military benefits.

Terry Howell, Senior Director for Alliances and Operations at, and staff met with leaders and staff from the House and Senate Armed Services Committees in order to brief them on's free tools and resources and provide feedback on the transition process from military to civilian life.

"We make this trip regularly and it's a great opportunity for us to communicate some of the issues we are seeing in our military community. Issues like transition, employment, benefits and changing legislation that impacts pay and allowances are always key subjects to talk about," said Howell. "We are honored to be able to forge these close relationships with decision makers at the congressional level and represent our audience here on Capitol Hill."

Howell, who was named as a HillVets 100 influencer in the "Businesses Focused on Veterans" category this year, is a 20-year veteran of the United States Coast Guard and the author of The Military Advantage, the guide to veterans benefits.

Howell works closely with government and non-profit veterans groups and he regularly briefs members of Congress on veteran employment issues and solutions that leverage a public, private and non-profit collaboration. He testified last June to the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity for the House Committee on Veterans Affairs about the recruitment and retention of veterans in the workplace as well as the role technology plays in today's veteran employment landscape. features a number of tools for transitioning veterans including their Transition App and Transition Center, the Military Skills Translator and Job Fair Aggregator.
