MCLEAN, Va – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Military.com and All American Games announced "Opening Day" for the All-DoD Team nominations today.
Selection to the team is honorary and is designed to highlight premier high school athletes who are the dependents of personnel currently serving in the U.S. military. The team will include 11 offensive, 11 defensive players, a kicker and a punter.
Nominations must include a video and can be uploaded to Military.com here. The team will be selected in December by an all-star panel of judges including:
- Wes Chandler – San Diego Chargers Hall of Famer, All-Pro Receiver and Veteran NFL Coach
- David Diaz-Infante – 16-year NFL Veteran, Super Bowl Champion and ESPN Analyst
- Sam Wyche – Offensive Football Innovator Who Led the Cincinnati Bengals to a Super Bowl and Coached Under the Legendary Bill Walsh
- Michael Husted - 10-year NFL kicker with Tampa Bay, Oakland, Washington and Kansas City.
Military.com President and retired Rear Admiral, T McCreary said, “Military kids have the added burden of frequent moves and starting new schools every few years. To be able to excel in high school sports in spite of that speaks volumes about the character, integrity and talent of these athletes.”
Celebrity judge Sam Wyche added, "High School athletes on military bases around the world demonstrate all the qualities of determination, competitiveness, and focus, that high profiled athletes possess...the only difference is recognition. Well, the ‘All DOD’ team selections will take care of that!"
