The Blackwater Prince Gets His Own Movie

Erik Prince, lightning-rod founder of the military contracting firm Blackwater, will be the subject of a new movie based on his book "Civilian Warriors: The Inside Story of Blackwater and the Unsung Heroes of the War on Terror" and a 2009 Vanity Fair article by Adam Ciralsky titled "Tycoon, Contractor, Soldier, Spy."

Imperative Entertainment, which made Clint Eastwood's "superhero movie for old people" "The Mule" and the Getty kidnapping saga "All the Money in the World," have hired "Collateral" screenwriter Stuart Beattie to collaborate with writer/director Michaël R. Roskam ("The Drop") on the movie.

The company says the film will be a "deep dive into the industry of modern warfare [that] reflects on the dark convergence of capitalism and patriotism." They say it's all there: the grand-jury investigations, the manslaughter trial after Blackwater operatives shot civilians in Iraq back in 2007 and his secret assassination missions for the CIA.
