On Friday, August 11th, author and Army veteran Brett Velicovich visited our Washington, DC offices for an interview about his new book Drone Warrior: An Elite Soldier's Inside Account of the Hunt for America's Most Dangerous Enemies (available now).

Brett is a former special ops intelligence analyst and he served during the era when unmanned aerial vehicles went from a novelty to an essential component of every special operations mission.

We talked about the real role that drones play in combat, how Brett is using his military experience to develop commercial uses for drone technology and how his company is trying to save endangered species in Africa with The African Eye Project.

Transformers and 13 Hours director Michael Bay has optioned Drone Warrior for an upcoming movie. We talked about his new adventures in show business and I convinced Brett to offer his reviews of some of the drone movies that Hollywood has made so far.

Brett has been a guest on CBS News and Fox News since the release of the book and I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of him as a news analyst in the months and years to come. We were fortunate to have the time to have the kind of in-depth discussion you won't see on television.

We had a technical issue with our streaming and had to switch internet devices about halfway through the interview, so you can watch the complete conversation in two parts below.
