The Army’s retention rate is over 80% for the fourth year running, and the service hit its retention goal for the year in May, five months ahead of schedule. The Army’s fiscal 2019 retention goal is 50,515 soldiers, according to a recent service release. To date, more than 50,190 have been retained. The accomplishment, which may be the fastest achievement of an Army retention goal on record, comes a year after the Army set a new reenlistment rate record. In fiscal 2018, the Army hit a 92% reenlistment rate. Officials attribute the retention and reenlistment success to career counselors and leadership engagement, use of incentives and bonuses, and expanded assignment options. Read more at Army.mil.
